Description
This rich star-forming region of the Tarantula Nebula stretches 340 light-years across. The James Webb telescope’s near-infrared camera has revealed tens of thousands of new young stars that were previously shrouded in cosmic gas and dust. Massive young stars appear pale blue to the eye among older red giants still embedded in the giant structure.
The Tarantula Nebula is a far-off giant almost 170,000 light-years from earth.
